First 2025 Spring Event

We sprang ahead on March 9th with another episode of changing the clocks to a new season. The birds were plenty, singing their joyful songs to the promise of Spring just around the corner.

The bulbs that we planted last fall are poking their heads up through the snow covered ground. As always, the crocuses are first. The soft petals of purple, white, and yellow stretch out their faces to the morning sun. In the evening, when the sun goes over the mountain, they close their petals and tuck themselves in for the night. But not to worry! They will repeat this ritual again come the morn.

“March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb.” That’s the saying, and it hasn’t disappointed so far. We started out with roaring winds with snow and rain. By March 20th the first day of Spring showed up and we were spoiled with temperatures in the low 70’s. As we near the end of the month, rain and snow are called for again. Typical Utah weather.

Our first Spring book event took place at Marissa’s Books & Gifts. This whimsical store was perfect for a book signing. What makes it unique is the treasure trove of rare old books: first editions of Louisa May Alcott, Beatrix Potter, and Jane Austin to name a few. I could browse in this wonderland all day. They have beautiful antique furniture and one of a kind gifts you won’t find anyway else. If you are ever near, you’ve got to stop in and indulge. (3302 S. 900 E., Millcreek, Utah 84106)

We were treated like royality. The friendly staff greeted us at the door with smiles and showed us to our table. They set us up near the entrance so people could see us immediately.

We met some very nice dog lovers who shared their stories with us. A little boy and his family had recently lost their beloved fur baby, and we could totally relate. It’s still hard for us after losing our Tuco. I think a story for kids on grieving the loss of a pet will be our next children’s book.

We met some other interesting dog people who bought our books and want to do a Podcast with us. We will let you know when that is available so you can listen in.

So, that’s it for this month. And as always, God bless, stay safe, and Happy Spring!
