It is September 22, 2020 the start of the fall season. Today the fall equinox marks both day and night as equal lengths. I will miss the long hot days and the late sunsets of summer. My early mornings on the front porch with a cup-a-Joe and my daily scripture reading will also be missed. Now, I will have to wrap up in a nice cozy blanket to watch the sun come up and enjoy my morning ritual. I will also say goodbye to the hummingbirds, as the cooler temperatures lure them to the warmer climate in the south. Til next summer my feathered friends, fly safe, I’ll miss you.
Fall is the best time. I love this season. For me it is football, hot bowls of chili, canning the harvest from my garden, apple picking, and the changing colors of the leaves. These are just a few of my favorite things.
September was Skip Thomas’ birth month. We still celebrate the 5th with his favorite meal, cheeseburgers. And now that we are proud owners of a motor-home, we can spend more time in the mountains or desert to inspire us with new stories. “Skip Thomas Goes RVing” is on the list of ideas for a future book. We are heading out this weekend to enjoy nature and rejuvenate. We’re also looking forward to some Walleye fishing at our new getaway, Yuba Lake.
It is time for us to get back on track with the next book. We took time off this summer because of COVID-19. Sadly, the Christmas book won’t be out this year. But now that the weather will be changing soon and we will be indoors shortly, we have plenty of time to work on new things. Tim will be trying out some new colored pencils that are sure to make our illustrations better and brighter. He will be using a new layering technique by using the Caran d’Ache Luminance Colored Pencils. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with!
The DOGTHORITY website will be up and running within the next two weeks. I’m really excited to see where this leads. It is mostly to promote our books and get people to know who we are. There is an article about us and a business page showcasing our books and our website. Shoot me an email when you read it and let me know what you think.
So for now, let’s keep being safe out there and be kind to one another.
Happy Fall & God Bless
Skip’s mom, Cb
